Cooperative Program in
Space Sciences (CPSS)
Information
for Electronic Resume Submission
USRA's Cooperative Program in Space Sciences (CPSS) would like to encourage qualified Ph.D.-level scientists to submit electronic applications in response to specific position advertisements. There are two reasons for this request: first, sorting, duplicating, transmission, etc. can be greatly expedited by working with electronic rather than paper copies. Second, if an individual is not selected for a specific position, by retaining an electronic copy of the application in our electronic database, USRA may readily maintain the information so that applicants can be appropriately matched to other subsequent position opportunities — regardless of the USRA program originally soliciting the application (i.e., GSFC, MSFC, or the Navy).
In order to get the full attention of a possible sponsor, your resume should contain all information normally included in a full curriculum vitae. It should include at least your name; education and degree history; professional experience (including brief responsibilities and accomplishments); thesis topic, title and name of theses advisor; scholarships, fellowships and awards received; professional memberships; current and past significant professional activities; a list of your publication in refereed journals; and any other relevant information you feel appropriate. The submission should not exceed five type-written pages (excluding the list of publications), and we would prefer 1-3 pages.
USRA will respond directly to each individual submitting an application for a particular position. In addition, we will retain copies of each resume submission for one year. Scientists are encouraged to send updates to their resumes, and the new date of submittal will restart the one year retention period. Resumes will be automatically discarded after the one year period is reached. USRA/CPSS will immediately honor any request to have names removed from our resume database. USRA will not pass on this information to any third party other than a potential sponsor, or use if for purposes other than that for which it was intended without the express consent of the applicant.
To submit your application electronically, click on the "Submit Resume " link below. Be certain to complete each box — noting the recruitment code from the advertisement. This will ensure your application will be carefully reviewed for the specific position for which you are applying.
Especially if your application contains figures or symbols that will not be recognized in a text format, we suggest you also send in your CV, references, and cover letter to the mail address specified in the specific position advertisement.
